Petit Jean Mountain
Our first trip was a very brief visit, since Petit Jean State Park is just about 30 miles from where we’re camped, we’ll go back. I really want to take Jim hiking on some of the trails there, as they’re fantastic, and I vaguely remember a waterfall on one of the trails here. I hadn’t been back in some 20 years, so I was thrilled to find it as beautiful as my memories of visits there.
January 6, 2007 - Jim and I hiked the waterfall trail today, it was indeed beautiful and a lot of fun to walk down the same trail I hiked 28 years ago, wow!

Cedar Falls Hiking Trail (18)
The most popular hiking trail on Petit Jean descends into Cedar Creek Canyon. Only those in good shape should attempt this walk. The first ½ mile descends more than 200 feet down steps cut from rock by the Civilian Conservation Corps more than 60 years ago. The trail follows beautiful Cedar Creek another ½ mile to the climax of the hike, Cedar Falls, one of the state's most spectacular sights. Cedar Falls cascades more than 90 feet to the canyon floor. Cedar Creek Canyon was added to the register of Arkansas Natural Areas in 1977. -
